The Buller ring is a ceramic firing control tool used to measure the shrinkage of body clay during firing. It allows the evaluation of the ceramic body’s degree of maturation and helps confirm whether the firing temperature and cycle were appropriate. White measuring ring.
Use: Measure the internal diameter of the ring in its unfired state, place it in the kiln together with the pieces, and after firing and complete cooling, measure the diameter again. The difference between measurements indicates the clay shrinkage, ensuring accurate and repeatable firing control.
